Laura Hope-Stone

Laura is a chartered Health Psychologist and specialises in providing telephone psychological support and intervention for patients with cancer. Her area of specialism is helping patients diagnosed with ocular melanoma and those closest to them adjust to and cope with this diagnosis, treatment, side effects (e.g. visual impairment, ocular symptoms, phantom eye syndrome), ongoing-screening for recurrence and the effects these can have on people’s lives. Laura can also help patients with difficult decisions about their medical care including treatment decisions, prognostic testing and liver surveillance. Laura can help you make sense of the situation and help you get ‘back on your feet’ helping you to return to your normal family, work and social roles. She can provide a time in which you can talk about how you are feeling without worrying about, upsetting, or ‘burdening’ those closest to you.


Laura can help you find ways to cope with your distress, anxiety, worries and concerns such as fear of cancer recurrence, and the effect these have on your mood and in and your everyday life. She can help you deal with the changes in your life and find ways of coping with the difficulties that you are experiencing. Laura also offers help for family members and those closest to individuals affected by a diagnosis of ocular melanoma. Laura brings a wealth of experience with over 30 years of working with people affected by cancer. She can draw on her extensive knowledge of the difficulties and concerns you can encounter from diagnosis onwards.
