Show your workforce that their sight, health and wellbeing matter.

Eye health affects every workforce, including employees who do not wear glasses and believe their vision is fine. By signing up, your organisation will receive the tools, guidance and recognition needed to make routine eye tests a visible and valued part of workplace wellbeing.

Why sign up

The Eye Health Employer Scheme is being developed by Ocular Melanoma UK to recognise organisations that actively promote eye health and encourage regular eye testing (once every two years) across their workforce.

Protect your people

Routine eye tests can help identify changes in eye health before symptoms are noticed. The welcome pack rightly explains that clear vision does not always mean healthy eyes.

Strengthen your wellbeing offer

Eye health is relevant to all employees, but it is often missing from workplace wellbeing programmes. Signing up gives you a practical way to address that gap.

Support staff with confidence

If an employee receives a diagnosis or needs follow up, managers and HR teams need to respond well. Your materials already recognise the importance of flexibility, signposting, confidentiality and ongoing support.

You do not need to become an eye health expert

Your role is not to diagnose conditions or give medical advice. The scheme helps you raise awareness, encourage routine eye tests, signpost to trusted sources, and respond supportively if an employee needs help.

Whatever method you currently use to fund sight tests is unchanged, vouchers, expenses, private health cover – this all remains unchanged. You are simply committing to close the gap between employees that get eye tests every two years and those that don’t.

“Many people diagnosed with ocular melanoma had no symptoms affecting their sight. We want more employers to help staff understand that clear vision does not always mean healthy eyes. A routine eye test can be a small appointment with a significant impact. For some employees, it may simply mean updated glasses and fewer headaches. For others, it may lead to earlier advice, monitoring or referral for a condition they had not noticed.”
