Volunteering
At Ocular Melanoma UK, we rely on volunteers to help us achieve the charity’s aims despite our limited resources. If you have a small amount of time to donate each week, please see the vacancies below and contact us for an informal chat about any you might be interested in.
Volunteering Roles
Local Ambassadors
We are now recruiting volunteers to become Local Ambassadors.
Ocular Melanoma UK members have shown an interest in getting to know others in our community, and as we can now meet in small groups, we are launching our Community Support Programme. These meetings will increase appropriate peer-to-peer support within our community and reduce the feeling of isolation. Meetings will be open to patients, family members and carers.
As a Local Ambassador, you will be representing our charity by organising and hosting meetings in your local area whilst being fully supported by Ocular Melanoma UK. Please take a look at the link below to learn more.
The Board of Trustees
By law, Ocular Melanoma UK must have a Board of Trustees overseeing its work. The board’s job is to ensure that Ocular Melanoma UK is being run effectively and efficiently, and that it is meeting the stated aims of the organisation.
As a patient-focused organisation, it is very important to us that a high proportion of our board members have personal experience of ocular melanoma, either as patients or as family members, so we are always looking for patients and family members to join us.
The board meets about 4 times per year. Members attend meetings in person where possible but may also be conducted via telephone conferencing. Board members may take specific roles, such as chair or treasurer, or they may be ordinary members.
Volunteers allow us to support our community and make sure they never feel alone.
We can’t thank you enough for your time and interest. If you are eager to find out more about volunteering, please read the job descriptions and apply through the form. We will strive to get back to you within 3 working days to arrange an informal chat about how you would like to get involved.
