Would you be interested to meet with other members of OcuMel UK?

Seeing other people on Zoom has become more normal for some people, but can it ever replace the friendship built over a coffee?

We want to build support within our community so that nobody has the feeling of isolation.  With Covid restrictions allowing us to meet again, we will be hosting several meetings.  We will initially meet online with a team of volunteer Local Ambassadors, and they will help us organise face-to-face meetings in your local area.

Please join us, for a chance to meet fellow omies and hear more about meeting locally.

Thursday 12th August @ 6pm            Scotland, Ireland & North England Meeting

Friday 13th August @ 7pm                 Wales, Midlands & Southern England Meeting

If you are a member, please look out for joining instructions sent out by email and if you’re not a member, please join us for more information.

These meetings are open to patients, family members and caregivers.  Please look out for updates with times and dates for future meetings.

Register to become a Local Ambassador

Would you like to ensure people receive support through our Community Support Programme and you would like a local meeting to take place near you? If so, please consider becoming an OcuMel UK Local Ambassador.

Once you have applied, we will then be in contact to invite you to one of our informal information evenings which will give you the opportunity to find out more about volunteering with us and ask any questions.

After attending an information evening, you will be asked to complete an online enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. You will also be asked to provide us with a passport-style photo for a photographic ambassador ID card. We will support you with the relevant training, including safeguarding, so you feel prepared to represent our small (but mighty) charity.

Once all training and DBS checks are complete, you will be ready to start volunteering with us.

Please note that all community ambassadors must be over 18 and we request a minimum of six months commitment to the role.

Register your interest here.
